Back From My Christmas Break Adventure In Denver

Just got back from Denver where I was spending the holiday with a coterie of naredowells.

My thoughts on Denver:

First off a great trip and beautiful part of the country to visit.

Nice area of the country...but for some reason it felt "too safe" for my liking. It's a place I don't think I could ever live for several reasons.

It feels too clean. I like some grittiness to my residence. Lots of the outskirts of Denver is prefabricated. It's kind of like the show "Weeds" without the snobs or the drugs.

Did I mention that Colorado is quite a conservative state ala Pennsylvania where you have to go to "Liquor Stores"to buy beer. Can anyone figure out why mountain rural communities don't have a more liberal policy towards alcohol? That's what mountain people do...get plastered and then go to work...weird. It's like they are ashamed, using it like a dirty little secret. Kind of like the way they show up for their "courtesy visit" to church once a year...during the holidays.

I am now spoiled that everything I need is close to me...if it's further than 10 minutes now severe boredom occurs in my head that feels like being beaten by a shovel repeatedly.

There is seemingly no music scene to speak of...now granted I was only there a week and much of the time spent there was clearly your garden variety spend time together holiday hang out mode and do nothing(which fit me fine)...but not really when you consider there were two trips to Hooters included and an NBDL basketball game.

The games Apples to Apples rocks!

Golden, Co is quite a neat little mountain town where you can clearly see that hordes of writers and artists live there to stay away from the world for months at a time. I can see that if you were completely sick of the world, it would be an appealing place to live. Which I can often understand.

That's about it for now...pictures to follow this weekend!
